Aside from the excellent facilities available at or near this RV Park, what really stands out is the friendliness and courtesies shown to all campers. A highlight of the week's activities includes a Friday and Saturday Campfire where campers sit around on sawed logs and roast marshmallows and hot dogs and if you are so inclined have a glass of wine or beer and swap stories with all the other guests. Usually a pot luck dinner is held on a weekend with each camper bringing a dish to share with all. The quietness of the evening adds to a peaceful night of rest, relaxation, and deep sleep. The beautifully restored Blanco River offers a cool dip and excellent fishing. Pets are welcome and enjoy the daily walks in the park's hiking trail. All in all, a most enjoyable experience for the camper that likes to get close to nature. We have and do recommend this RV Park to all our camping friends.

We stayed here for the 4th and it was amazing. Moose and elk walk through camp like they own the place (which they do), and the stables was great. Nice horses, not nags, and nice guides. It's too bad that a lot of the area's lodgepole pines are dead due to pine beetle, but you still enjoy the awesome views. Having electric and water in such an idyllic setting was a treat. We stayed in sites E and F which were too cool, right next to a flowering meadow. Only downside was the fact that if you needed to go to the bathroom and did not want to walk around the pond, you had to use a port-a-potty, but they were mostly kept clean and non-smelly. 4th of July at Grand Lake was incredible but know that it will be an hour or too before you actually leave town after the fireworks. Patience is important there. Try Grand Pizza in town - delish. We had to complain after first night when the reunion going on at the next site turned into Winding River-palooza into the wee hours, but security drove by at least 6 times the next night and the palooza was much quieter. Will stay here again and again. FYI - when driving up the Park road, make sure NOT to turn at the sign that says Winding River Guest Ranch - that is not the same place. Just keep driving up the dirt road

Wonderful place to stay while touring Colorado. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The cabin and campground were very clean and tidy. They worked hard to see that we were comfortable.

I would highly recommend this park. We stayed there for about three weeks. Next year we will definitely go back and will probably stay even longer. Most of the campsites are spacious enough and you are surrounded by beautiful Blue Spruce Pines. The customer service is the best we have ever received. Our thanks to Chris, Kent and Judy for making our visit such a wonderful stay. Don't worry about getting a satellite signal here in the woods either. They have dishes mounted all around in the trees to receive the signal. Bring your box and just plug in or rent a box from them. Also the wi-fi was very reliable and worked great the entire time we were there.

Laundry and restroom facilities were as clean as could be. They even come by your campsite a couple of times in the morning to pick up your garbage for you. We traveled for 6 weeks and stayed at numerous places and we would rate this park as our favorite.

Thanks again Blue Spruce

Wonderful campground - clean, well kept, quiet and more than worth the 20 mile drive to Colorado Springs area for sight seeing trips. The restrooms and laundry and exceptionally clean. We will definitely come back.

This was one of our favorite campgrounds that we stayed out on our vacation. The employees are polite, friendly, and willing to help if you need help with anything. The people staying in this campground are like neighbors. When we came and went, someone always waved at us w/a friendly smile. The bathrooms were immaculate every single day! At night it was very quiet so we could sleep very well. The grounds are kept up very nice, and are very pretty. We enjoyed watching all the hummingbirds!!! We also enjoyed the free popcorn in the office....YUM!! :) To the owners & all the employees, we just want to say "thank you" for our 1 1/2 week stay. We enjoyed it very much!! If we hear of anyone coming to Durango w/their camper, we will definitely let them know about Alpen Rose RV Park!!! Nancy
