| If you camp in a tent, I would definitely not recommend it unless you have extra plastic sheets, big matresses and floor mats. I camped in over 30 campings in my life and so far, it was the worst floor I have ever seen: big rocks where all over the place and mixed with mud or should I say clay (which stains your tent if it rains or rained few days before arrival - I couldn't remove all the stains from my tent with water and soap after I returned home). It is even hard to walk bare foot in your tent (too painful for the feet).
In this campgroung, you have no privacy since there are no bushes or small trees. In the night it also means that you get the reflection of all flash lights.
The wood log that you can buy for 6.80$ is also pretty small (and wet in our case, so we couldn't even keep the fire on - just stinky smoke).
The showers where not practical. There were just two with only one outside shower curtain: I don't like to see stangers naked so it wasn't nice!
On the reservation phone call, they also claim that noise has to be down by 10:30pm but the campground is really noisy untill midnight (and more) but it is true, it is quiet in the morning! You can hear many dogs barking too! (especially when a skunk pass by.)
Positive sides: they have a nice store at the entrance and they are close to the national park. The employee who received us was also mature, nice and really helpful with tourist informations.
The fee is way too high if you do not intend to use all the services they have on site ( I didn't care for the recreation 4 stars).
One last thing, if you didn't know (because we were not aware), there are many snakes on the peninsula (we saw 10 in 2 days) so you can also expect to see some at the campground.
Hopefuly, these informations will be helpfull to you. |
