A Choice Of Day Trips From Lone Mountain RV Resort Oregon is one of America’s most beautiful states and there is no better way to explore it than by RV. The region boasts a great depth and breadth of scenery and travelling via RV on the state’s scenic roads is the best way to see it all. The roads in Oregon are notoriously picturesque ranging from the Pacific Coast Highway 101 to one of the many scenic byways. Travelling through Oregon is a fantastic experience but there is also a great range of activities to keep you occupied during your stopovers across the beautiful state. With your base at Lone Mountain RV Resort in O’Brien you are surrounded by an area known for its beautiful old forests, world-class fishing, amazing waterfalls, as well as being an emerging wine region. We’re going to take a look at a few great day trips from Lone Mountain as well as some pre-vacation tips to help you get the most out of your visit to Oregon. Thrill seekers If you’re looking for some adrenaline-pumping action while you’re in Oregon then the Hellgate Jetboat Excursion is right up your street. The jetboat tours of the wild yet beautiful Rogue River and Hellgate Canyon are a thrilling ride. The boats offer a great way to see large areas of the river and canyon in a relatively short space of time. The Hellgate pilots provide a narrated historic overview of the area and point out scenic sites of interest, of which there are many! The guides also show visitors the surrounding wildlife, and sightings of deer, river otter, bald eagles and osprey are common. As if the exciting boat ride and magnificent scenery and wildlife wasn’t enough, a banquet or country-style meal at the OK Corral is included as well. Just a short walk up the grassy slope is the picturesque open-air deck with carved log tables and chairs with uninterrupted views over the Rogue River. Hellgate Jetboat Excursion is just 36 miles or a 45-minute drive away. Unbelievable beauty For yet more stunning scenery a visit to Crater Lake should not be missed. The lake is 139 miles, or 2 hours 45 minutes dive away, but it is well worth the time it takes to get there. Crater Lake is 1,943 feet deep, which makes it the seventh deepest lake in the world, and the deepest in America. It is filled with fresh water, which is some of the clearest in the world giving the lake its stunning blue appearance. The volcano that created the caldera erupted in a cataclysmic eruption 7,700 years ago. There is a great array of wildlife living around the lake and some great walks so it makes a great day out. Over the border Just over the state boundary line into California is the Redwood National Park. The stunning park is home to the world-famous massive redwood trees as well as a huge variety of wildlife and beautiful scenery. There are various scenic drives trough the old redwood trees which enable visitors to admire the area’s impressive natural beauty, although for many of the routes the use of motorhomes is not advised. For people wanting to get a closer and more natural view of the area there are more than 200 miles of hiking trails to choose from. The Redwood National Park is just 36 miles or a 45-minute drive from O’Brien. Plan ahead To get the most out of your vacation to Lone Mountain RV Resort and its beautiful surroundings we have a few tips of things you can pack and organize before you leave home. Depending on what time of year you are visiting, the Oregon weather can be changeable so it is advisable to bring a range of clothing options with you. Prepare for wet and cold weather as well as warm and sunny! Pack a road map of Oregon. Many of us rely upon sat navs to get us around these days but like all technology every so often they do go wrong, so to have a map as a back up can save you wasting precious time driving around lost. A map also helps to give you a bigger picture of where you are travelling and what interesting sites you may be passing near. Do a thorough check of your RV well in advance of leaving home so you have time to order and fit new parts that you may need. This can help to avoid breakdowns and even accidents. Organize travel insurance before you leave home. This will provide you with peace of mind and can save you a lot of money should anything go wrong during your vacation. This can be especially important for an RV based holiday as you are travelling around with a lot of your valuables and you can be more exposed to the elements. Lastly remember to pack your camera! As you drive through Oregon you will see some fantastic scenery and you will want to show it to friends and family when you return home.

This park is very nice. Clean with all the amenities needed for an overnight stay. The only thing missing is a dog run. Susan, at the desk, couldn't have been nicer.
